Derek B.

Derek began his career at Douglas when he was still a mechanical drafting and design student. Over the decades, he has experienced the various roles and responsibilities involved in Douglas’ Mechanical Engineering department and now serves as director, supporting his teams’ objectives and finding ways to make improvements. Derek loves working with the outstanding people at Douglas and seeing others grow and achieve their goals is a fulfilling part of his work.

Outside work, Derek likes spending time with his family and encouraging his daughters in their sports and musical endeavors. He also enjoys the outdoors—hunting, fishing, camping—as well as woodworking, the occasional welding project and (more recently) 3D printing. Fun fact, Derek once bowled a 719 series and also hit 5 home runs during a single softball game.
